Jesus replied, '"You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.'
Matthew 22:37 (NLT)
One habit I try to form when I read God's Word is paying close attention to anything that He calls a command. Jesus is commanding us to love God with everything in us. He is telling us to be completely consumed by our love for God, to make Him our obsession. This word 'obsession' typically has a negative connotation to it but in our context here we can use it to mean: being completely preoccupied by our love for God, to feel like we can't live without Him or to fixate on Him. I don't know about you but I want to live everyday of my life feeling like I can't breathe without God. I want to always stir up my affections for Him, to Him. It is imperative that we understand that if there is anything else that has our attention more than God does then that is what we truly love. Let us take notice of how Jesus lived out His own words. He could've saved us in a second by merely sitting in heaven and saying a word because He is God yet He chose a hard and torturous path just to make a point, that He loves us with His whole heart, soul and mind. Perhaps this is your first time coming into contact with God and you're wondering why you should welcome God into your life or maybe you haven't been intimate with God in a while. Well, I'd like to invite you to read about the greatest love story ever told that is recorded in John 3:16-17
16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
God chose every one of us, not some. He finds us all worthy of love. Will we love Him?
